Everything you need to know about eSIMs and travelling with Simwander
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built into your device. Instead of swapping a physical card, you scan a QR code to download a data plan instantly. Your phone stores multiple profiles, so you keep your home number while using a local data plan abroad.
Most iPhones from XS onwards and many Android flagships (Google Pixel 3+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, and others) support eSIM. Check the Device Compatibility page for a full list. Your device also needs to be unlocked by your carrier.
After purchase you'll receive a QR code by email. Go to your device's mobile data settings, choose "Add eSIM", and scan the code. The whole process takes under two minutes. You can activate before you travel and the plan will start when you first connect.
No. eSIMs work alongside your physical SIM. Calls and texts to your home number still come through as normal — the Simwander eSIM only provides data, so you stay reachable on the same number the whole trip.
You can top up or purchase a new plan anytime from your account dashboard. Plans do not auto-renew, so you're always in control of what you spend. We'll send you a usage alert when you're running low.
Yes. We offer regional plans that cover multiple countries under a single data allowance — great for multi-stop trips through Europe, Southeast Asia, and more. Browse the Packages page and filter by region to find the right plan for your itinerary.
