Is my phone carrier unlocked?

A locked phone only works with the carrier that sold it. Your phone needs to be unlocked before it can use a Simwander eSIM.

Check on iPhone

1. Open Settings and go to General, then About.

   Settings›General›About›Carrier Lock

2. Scroll to Carrier Lock. "No SIM restrictions" means your iPhone is unlocked.

Check on Android

There's no single setting on Android. The most reliable ways are:

• Ask your carrier. They can tell you straight away.
• Put a SIM card from a different carrier into the phone. If it connects, the phone is unlocked.

How to unlock your phone

Only the carrier that locked the phone can unlock it.

1. Contact the carrier you bought the phone from.
2. Ask them to unlock it. They may ask for the phone's IMEI number, which you can see by dialling *#06#.
3. Wait for their confirmation, then restart your phone.

Good to know

Phones bought outright from the manufacturer are usually unlocked. Phones bought on a contract or payment plan are often locked until the contract is paid off.
